The NYU Leadership Initiative is a young and rapidly expanding program that helps graduate and undergraduate students develop the skills they need to become the leaders of tomorrow. The Leadership Initiative encompasses three individual programs: Leadership Development, Global Awards, and the Reynolds Program for Social Entrepreneurship. Each of these programs have distinct goals ranging from guiding students to apply for scholarships like the Fulbright or Marshall awards, developing fellowships and study abroad programs, and supporting students who engage in social ventures and competitions.
The new home for the Leadership Initiative is located in the heart of NYU's Greenwich Village urban campus. This storefront space provides an interactive dichroic film that increases visibility for the program and invites passersby to come in and learn more. The NYU Department of physics
The environmental graphics for the NYU Department of Physics were created to serve two purposes — visual wayfinding, and inspirational environmental design. Featuring lenticular printed graphics, the stairwells throughout the space highlight different components of the physics realm through the use of interactive design that moves physically.
Each graphic is representational of the departments on each floor. Mathematical equations are reflective, symbolizing the potential of discovery each student internally possesses. In walking through the department, dynamism between the lighting fixtures and unfolding graphic elements is showcased. Project designed for Matiz Architecture & Design.
NYU Lipton Hall
NYU Lipton Hall prominently situated in NYU's urban campus (along the Western edge of Washington Square Park), acts as one of the University's key freshmen dorms. Along with the reconfiguration of dorm rooms, the building received new program elements such as a commuter lounge and other student support spaces.
The double-exposed visuals developed for the downstairs Commuter Lounge reference recognizable structures visible on the commute into the building. These locations include New York's five boroughs, New Jersey, and Westchester. Bold typography can be found throughout the entirety of the facility, serving as sources of inspiration and wayfinding per floor. Each sign is color-coded by floor number and is ADA compliant, and uses elements outside of standard architectural requirements to mimic the depth of the building's typographic treatments.
